JotForm vs Wufoo vs MightyForms

Compare JotForm with its alternatives that could work much better for you. While most web form builders have the same core goal of helping you create online forms without much or any coding, they each specialized in additional features for specific problem-solving.

There are plenty of JotForm alternatives that you can choose from. But to simplify let’s compare JotForm vs. Wufoo vs. MightyForms - 3 top form builders on the market.

We’ll go over a few main points that help form builders stand out. From user experience, customization options, the support offered, templates, pricing, and advanced features that can boost a business.

Guest-building

Guest-building is when a form builder allows you to create a form without having to create an account first by signing up with an email and password.

This is especially resourceful when you want to simply try out a builder’s ease of use and check if the feature listed on their website is, in fact, what you're looking for.

JotForm

JotForm does allow you to start building right away, though the option to do so is not so easy to find on its landing page. You can publish the form, but you don’t have any access to the results.

Wufoo

Wufoo does not offer a guest-building option that could be found on its landing page.

MightyForms

MightyForms does allow you to start building forms immediately, so you can check out the builder and all its features (including the paid ones). However, in order to publish the forms and have access to results, you need to sign up.

User experience

JotForm

JotForm offers a wide variety of widgets and fields that can be added to the form with its drag & drop editor. You can make changes to the form as a whole by clicking the Designer icon, or select a field’s Settings to set up individual rules to it. With the option to add custom CSS, you can create a form that matches your website exactly. But to be fair, there are so many customization options that you can easily get lost in the rabbit hole

Creating a workflow with your online forms really depends on your goal. With integrations, Logic Rules, and different Sharing options, you need to navigate a lot of different options to find exactly what you want to edit in order to optimize your workflow.

It’s quite intuitive to publish your form with JotForm. Being the third step of the building process, you can choose different ways to share the form once you’re done. You can edit the form after it’s published, but be very careful in the changes you make, since the changes are published instantaneously.

Wufoo

Wufoo is one of the oldest form builders still available, so, unfortunately, a lot of outdated UX can be found when creating a form. The builder itself is really detailed in offering pre-made form fields you can simply drag & drop. Settings are separated into tabs on the side menu, where you choose fields, their specific settings, and then the overall form’s settings.

Designing a form in Wufoo is especially challenging even if you have a CSS code to simply copy and paste. Once you hit ‘Save’ you need to head over to the Theme Designer, where through a series of dropdown menus you can select customizations such as font, colors, and backgrounds.

Once published you can always go back and make edits, the changes will only go live when you save them. Wufoo does allow you to share the form on social media or embed the form using the code generated, but custom notifications are reserved for paying users.

MightyForms

MightyForms had the benefit of undergoing professional beta tests before launching its 2.0 version with a completely revamped interface. Divided into Builder and Design, you can first add as many fields as you need in your form, then customize the settings for each one (i.e. requirements, tooltip text, placeholder text, etc.).

All the field types you need can be found on your builder toolbox, and they already include validation, so you can rest assured that fields will be filled out correctly. Once you are satisfied, you simply head over to the Design tab where you can select a pre-existing design theme, from MightyForms’s library or a saved theme from your past forms.

After you save and publish your form, you can click share to get quick social media sharing links, copy the URL to your form (which you can customize), and the embed code that can be used in multiple platforms.

Templates

JotForm Templates

JotForm offers one of the largest libraries of online form templates available. With over 10.000 form templates, it’s very likely that you’ll be able to find a template of a form you are looking for, while still having the option of starting from scratch.

You’ll notice, however, that the templates don’t have a big range in design between themselves. So, to really shine in creativity, it’s advisable to use the builder to give the forms your own signature look.

Wufoo Templates

Wufoo offers over 400 form templates you can choose from. The first thing you’ll notice is that the variety is centered around different types of forms and there’s no variation on the designs.

It’s an excellent source of inspiration for form questions and even types of forms for different goals.

MightyForms Templates

Like JotForm and Wufoo, MightyForms offers free form templates and form designs that you can use and implement on your forms. MightyForms also offers a new take for you to find the form template you’re looking for. Although the selection is still smaller than the alternatives, you can filter the results according to form type, industry, themes, and colors.

While the variety of templates is still being built up, MightyForms makes it easy for you to save a specific theme in your Theme library. So whenever you are building a new form, you can simply select the theme into your form’s design.
