Wufoo is an easy-to-use online form builder that allows you to create various types of forms within minutes. However, there were a few limitations we encountered when testing this form builder:
- You can't collect signatures without connecting to a third-party application
- You can't use AI to analyze your form analytics or build a form from scratch
- You can't automatically recover abandoned leads
- The conditional logic features are a bit limited
In order to avoid this, we believe you should look out for these features when choosing a Wufoo alternative:
- AI features: You should be able to build beautiful forms by simply typing a few prompts into a chat box. Form builders should also offer an AI that analyzes your form analytics to find weaknesses and suggest areas for improvement.
- Lead recovery features: You should be able to see what users typed into your form, even if they didn't submit it. This way, you can access the full names and email addresses of users who bounced and prompt them to complete and submit your form.
- Signature functionalities: You should be able to collect signatures from your users without having to connect to a third-party application.

This is how FormBuilder fixes the limitations that Wufoo presents:

When we tested Wufoo, we found that we couldn't collect e-signatures from respondents without connecting with a third-party application such as Adobe or signNow.
Since we didn’t want to buy a signature collection tool, this forced us to ask respondents to write their signature on a piece of paper and take a picture of it. Because this adds extra steps to the form completion process, we saw form completion rates nosedive when using this approach.
So we designed FormBuilder with an e-signature functionality. When designing their form, users can drag and drop the signature field from the left-hand side of their dashboard onto their form, so when they embed their form onto their website, they can easily collect signatures.
And when respondents land on a user's form, they can choose to either type their signature on their keyboard or draw it with their cursor.
You can automatically recover abandoned leads
Another problem with Wufoo and many other form builders is that they don't allow you to see what users typed into your form if they didn't click the submit button. This means you can't recover abandoned leads by emailing the respondent because you can't see the respondent's full name and email address.
It's still possible to recover them by running Google retargeting ads, but we found that this typically doesn't see the same conversions as direct emails.

You can build beautiful forms and analyze their analytics with AI
You'll also find that Wufoo doesn’t have AI capabilities to improve your form creation and optimization experience. For example, you can't type a couple of prompts into an AI chat box and have an AI create a form for you, nor can you have the AI analyze your form for weaknesses and suggest areas for improvement.
This is a major limitation because you'll have to build forms from scratch, and while the templates that Wufoo offers can speed up the process, it isn't the same as having an AI build a form for you. Additionally, if you're trying to increase form completion rates, you'll have to constantly A/B new questions, form layouts, and page designs, and if these don't work, it can feel like you're going in circles.

So, for example, if the AI sees that everyone drops out before your Stripe field, it'll recommend removing it or making it optional. Another limitation we found when using Wufoo was the conditional logic features. Conditional logic refers to asking respondents different questions depending on what they previously typed into your form.
Wufoo offers basic conditional logic functions such as IF/THEN commands; however, it doesn't allow you to create more advanced rules like AND/OR statements or NOT commands. This is fine if you're creating short forms with basic rules. However, it is limiting for longer forms with more logic rules.

If you're looking for a free online form builder that still offers features such as customizable templates, third-party integrations, and logic rules, then Google Forms is a good choice.
While Google Forms does have its limitations, it's a staple among many businesses because of its simplicity and ease of use. You can create a form inside the editor dashboard and embed it on your website within minutes.
The best part about Google Forms is its easy integration with other Google products. For example, if you're collecting job applications, you can connect Google Forms to Google Sheets and all the information users give you will be neatly organized inside this spreadsheet.
3. Best Wufoo alternative for Microsoft users: Microsoft Forms
If you already have a Microsoft 365 account, you don't have to sign up for a new form builder because it comes with the premium version of Microsoft Forms.

Unlike more generalist form builders that allow you to create application forms, contact forms and order forms, SurveyMonkey is solely meant for surveys. This is perfect if you don't know what questions to ask because all the questions in SurveyMonkey's templates are common industry questions.
